Walla Walla Dogs

Connecting dog owners in Walla Walla

Was wondering if anyone has tried the above resort. I have one dog and one young cat with trips planned after my sprained ankle heals. Have used Penrod kennels for my dog in the past but heard undesirable comments about it lately. Thanks.

Haven't used their services yet, but got a full tour and liked what I saw. It's worth going for a tour as they are open 7 to 7 every day. I referred a coworker of mine there (she has 2 GSP's) and she was happy with it.

Thanks and was planning on touring the facility this weekend.

Did you have a chance to take the tour like you'd planned? What did you think of it?

I was not impressed with the cat area (not much room and not even any windows) so will have Sara Smart, a pet sitter, come instead of boarding my Annie. Wish there were outside areas for the dogs or atleast windows and there isn't any air conditioning yet. My dog needs lots of exercise and interaction. I think I will have a pet sitter come to my house when I can't take him with me. Heard undesirable things about Penrod kennels where I have been boarding him so hesitate to return. Instead of walking him which would cause me to worry (they could get run over by a drunk or distracted driver), I would have her either exercise him in my backyard (he chases balls hit by tennis racket and catches frizbies) or walk him on my treadmill which he does often.

I didn't pay close attention to the cat area as I don't have cats. I would think most cats would prefer to stay in their home anyway.

I actually liked the indoor play area quite a bit...don't think windows make much of a difference to dogs. But air conditioning sure would! It wasn't very hot yet when I visited so I didn't notice.
Did they mention plans for A/C soon? I know she said an outdoor play area was planned (or at least hoped) for the future.

If you do a google search of doggy daycares in Portland (they have lots) you'll find many are indoors due to their rainy weather.

Mine are lazy things so they wouldn't need much at all. We typically just have friends stop by several times a day to let them out for potty, feeding, and a quick play session when we go on vacation. With three dogs, extended trips get very pricey for boarding. But if I had a young pup I would likely make use of the day care a few days a week for a chance at dog-dog interaction. And I'd gladly board there too...but I've been lucky to be able to keep my dogs at home -- their ultimate comfort spot -- rather than have to board them ever. And I've frequently taken in friends dogs for them when they go away.

I think they'll continue to improve upon what they have and I like many of their plans. In my opinion it offers the most of any other boarding option in town.

Oh I forgot to ask you...do they offer varying degrees of activity for dogs that have more energy to burn? So if you tell them "My dog needs a LOT of exercise" can they do more?

I (meaning "Oliver" the dog) use Haute Dog on a regular basis. It is wonderful! Oliver was boarded there for 8 days while we vactioned. He was sad to leave. Since then, he visits all day once a week to play in their play area. He meets some of his favorite dogs there from the dog park. The accomodations are very clean, cheerful, roomy and well supervised. This is an indoor facility, which is more to my suiting. I encourage anyone to take a tour, I know you'll be impressed. It by far is much nicer than any other boarding/daycare facility around, and well worth the few dollars more than the "other" place. BTW, all the dogs go down for "naptime" between 11-1, in their own spacious individual rooms, with lullabies and dimmed lights!

I take Honey there now since Bodhi, her best bud, is no longer with us. It took her about a month to accept this place as her second home! She enjoys going, but wishes her friend Bailey, some fluffy white dog, would be there all the time so she can chew gently on his ears and play with him.

Oliver is an active, young australian shepherd and I don't think he would be happy stuck in a small room all day without windows. He used to go to Penrod kennels when I couldn't take him with me but heard bad comments about that place so hesitate to return. Maybe I should try the pet sitter I had for my cat, Sara Smart. Sorry about your loss Kathy.

Would he like the doggy daycare area to play with other dogs a couple times a day between rests in his 'room'?

Hi guys. Been a while since I've commented. I do pop in and read once in a while and look at the great photos!
Just wanted to let you know our "errands" business provides pet services. We accommodate various different scenarios involving checking in while you're at work, full vacation services, walking, playing/petting time, feeding /watering, etc.
If you're a Walla Walla Dogs member I will give you 10% off our services. Cool, huh?

Don't want to violate the rules and "advertise", so I think I've said enough. Won't post my number or website here. You can certainly send me a message or respond to this post and I can get back to you.
